Ocean Pollution

 Ocean Pollution

Ocean pollution is really important because it's harmful to the animals that live in the ocean. Another reason why ocean pollution is important because chemicals get thrown into the ocean and the water gets toxic. If the ocean gets polluted the water we drink now will get dirty and we could get sick.

Ocean pollution is harmful to the animals because of the debris of the pollution slowly degrades over many years, it uses oxygen to do so, resulting in less oxygen in the ocean lead to the death of the ocean animals such as penguins, dolphins, whales and sharks. Excess nitrogen and phosphorus in seawater also causes oxygen depletion. Today's sea absorb as much as a quarter of all man-made carbon emissions

If chemicals get thrown into the ocean the increased concentration of the chemicals, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, in the coastal ocean promotes the growth of algal blooms, which can be toxic to wildlife and harmful to humans. The negative effects on health and the environment caused by algal blooms hurt the local fishing and tourism industries. It can also kill wildlife, destroy habitat and contaminate critical resources in the food chain.

The germs and chemicals can get in drinking water at the water's source or in the distribution system after the water already been treated. Harmful germs and chemicals can get in the water from many sources, including fertilizers, pesticides or other chemicals that have been applied to land near the water. Water toxicity in normal circumstances are rare.

Ocean pollution is really important so we should take care of the ocean and not pollute the ocean. The ocean is important because we drink it and if the water we drink gets polluted can't drink it anymore and if we don't water we get dehydrated.
